A case study is the ideal research design technique because it is particularly helpful in analyzing institutions and structuring policy. The analytical approach to be adopted is the congruence method based on typical conditions. The use of congruence analysis is the most appropriate approach because it places emphasis on formulating conclusions that are relevant to the goals of the study and because it enhances objectivity and reliability of the research. The case study chosen is ââ¬Å"Wars of Decline: Afghanistan, Iraq and Libyaâ⬠because it offers an opportunity to clearly investigate the factors listed above and is able to comprehensively explain the occurrence of a number of factors that are responsible for the mismanagement of the Iraq War. ââ¬Å"The Wars of Decline: Afghanistan, Iraq and Libyaâ⬠provides an opportunity for the analysis of the management of the Iraq War. It provides a chance to analyze underlying factors that may have caused the mismanagement of the Iraq War. Progressivism began in the late 1800s as people began to feel that large corporations had too much power over peopleââ¬â¢s lives. The first progressives also felt that the government was corrupt and that the corrupt people needed to be removed from office. When Theodore Roosevelt was president, he targeted corporations that he felt were monopolistic and had too much power. He also advocated labor unions (ââ¬Å"Theodore Rooseveltâ⬠). Additionally, progressives like Roosevelt felt that science and technology were the solution to humanityââ¬â¢s problems. Woodrow Wilson shared many of Rooseveltââ¬â¢s progressive views and also believed that the checks and balances created by the founders to limit power were a mistake and should be done away with (ââ¬Å"Woodrow Wilsonâ⬠). Franklin D. Roosevelt was also a progressive who advocated labor unions, increased taxes, and extensive government prog rams. Todayââ¬â¢s progressives believe similarly that government intervention and government programs greatly benefit society. Most progressives are liberal democrats. They believe that the government is responsible for making peopleââ¬â¢s lives better.
